PXL_20210717_200843816.PORTRAIT.jpg

I am a graduate of Florida A & M University and received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in reading and English Speakers of Other Languages.  This will be my 17th year teaching and my second year at Harvey.  I have spent most of my teaching career at Williams Elementary.

I have three daughters, Kennedy and Londyn, who attends school here at Harvey.  They will be in second and fourth grade. I also have an older daughter who is currently away in college at Florida A&M University.

I have several interest and hobbies that I enjoy.  While, spending time with my family is very precious, I do get a chance to get away. I enjoy going to the spa, reading, watching Disney movies, and relaxing at the beach. I was born and raised in Manatee County and attended Manatee County Schools. I have been so blessed to have lived my entire life part time on Anna Maria Island. The beach is my paradise happy place and I have created so many memories there.  I enjoy living in this county and working for the school system where I received my education.

I am looking forward to a fun-filled learning experience and hope you are as well.  First Grade is an exciting time as you're getting ready to embark upon new adventures in the world of learning.  This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated.  During First Grade, you will learn how to read with meaning while digging deeper into the text during reading workshop, write detailed stories during writing workshop, and lots of strategies on how to add & subtract using mental math during math workshop, and so much more! I hope to make your learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your years of schooling.  It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes.  Each student will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready.  Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in my class.  I believe in working together as a classroom community to help each other strive for success!!!
